George stated in his Revolutionary War Pension application that he was born 1751 in Chester County, Pennsylvania and that he moved as a young boy to Augusta County, Virginia. He appears on a 1783 Greenbrier County, Virginia tax list.

He married Sarah Newton, daughter of Joseph Newton and Helena Anderson about 1775. George and Sarah had 6 sons and 3 daughters.

His pension claim was rejected.

The powder horn that was used by George Blake in the Revolutionary War is in the Horner Museum at Oregon State University.

George, his father, Theophilus, and his brothers, John and James Blake signed the petition to form Bath County, Virginia from Augusta County in 1778.

George and his family settled on Blake's Creek in Kanawha County, (West) Virginia about 1795. He was living in Kanawha County, near Nitro where Blake's Creek was named in his honor. Land records in Kanawha County, (West) Virginia show that George Blake purchased a tract of land from William Coleman on April 9, 1816. This transaction was proved by Lewis Newton and it was recorded on April 16, 1816.

George Kennett Blake moved to Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana about 1816 with his son, Lewis where George applied for a pension for his service in the Revolutionary War, but his application was rejected. On December 20, 1834, in Jefferson County, Indiana, George declared he believes he was drafted for six months but it is possible he was drafted each time for three months and each tour lasted six months.

He died in Jefferson County, Indiana in 1843 at 92 years of age. George Kennett Blake and his son, Lewis are buried at the Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery in Jefferson County, Indiana.

Unsure of spelling middle name whether Kennett or Kenneth.
