Biography

1. Dob assumed to be after the date of his parents' marriage. 2. He was an MP for Cos Carlow and Waterford, thrice Mayor of Waterford.

1874 he married Adelaide Power,daughter of the late Nicholas M.Power, Esq., of Faithleg, D.L. and M.P. for Waterford.

Marriage: Entry No 17 of record for RC Chapel Booterstown, Blackrock, Co Dublin, Ireland for 1874, with note that his father was dead. Record lists him as Joseph.

  • Death of Mr. John A. Blake M.P. Mr. John A. Blake M.P. for Carlow, died suddenly at his residence, in London, from disease of the heart. Mr. Blake, who formerly represented Waterford, was at one period an Inspector of Irish Fisheries. He was widely known, and greatly esteemed in the House of Commons. (Irish Times Tue May 24th 1887).
