Biography

Nancy Jane Blakely was born on March 3, 1849, to James Blakely and Phebe (Rogers) Blakely of Hancock County, Indiana.[1] Her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to Nancy.

In 1850, Nancy was one year old and living in the household of her uncle Samuel Blakely and his wife Martha.[2] Also living with Nancy's aunt and uncle at that time was her older sister Phebe, while their older siblings - Elizabeth and Rachel - lived with their widowed father, James.

By 1860, Nancy (12) and Phebe (14) had reunited with their father and older sisters and were all living on the family farm in Brown Township, Hancock County, Indiana.[3]

On January 5, 1865, Nancy married Preston Boram in Hancock County, Indiana.[4] They had two known children:

1. James (1867-)
2. Charles (1870-1929)

In 1870, Nancy (21) and Preston (33) were living in Adams, Indiana, with their sons James (3) and Charles (3 months).[5]

In 1880, Nancy (31), calling herself Ann J., and Preston (49) were living in Adams, Indiana, with their sons James (11) and Charles (10).[6]

Nancy's husband Preston passed away on June 9, 1899.[7]

In 1900, widowed Nancy (51) lived in Adams, Indiana, with her younger son Charles (30) and his wife Hestella (17).[8]

In 1910, Nancy (61) lived in Adams, Indiana, with her son Charles (40).[9] She stated at the time that she had given birth to four children, only two of whom were still alive, and that she owned her home free and clear.[9]

Nancy passed away on May 22, 1919, in Hancock County, Indiana.[1] She is buried in Hays Cemetery, Hancock County, Indiana, USA.[1]
