Robert was born about 1920. He was the son of John Blakely and Edith Wilson. He was a medical doctor, who lived in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.
Robert married (Esther) and the couple had the following children: Ann, Robbie, Jo and Biddy.
He passed away about 2002 aged 83 and is buried at the Gimmerburn Cemetery, Central Otago, New Zealand.
