Thomas Blakeslee, born in England in 1615, came to the Colony of Massachusetts Bay in 1635, in the ship Hopewell, Captain Babb, from London. In 1641 he was living in Hartford; in 1643 he removed to New Haven, and in 1645 to Branford. In 1667, 1668, and 1669 he was chosen Deputy to the General Court of Connecticut. he died in 1674 at Boston, whither he had gone on trading visit, leaving a wife, Susanna Ball.
Passengers of the Hopewell, Master Thomas Babb, Second Voyage of 1635, The Winthrop Society, shows a "Thomas Blackwell, age 20, Date of Record 28 July 1635, sworn at St.Giles Cripplegate, Roll #3"
