Research Notes

‘’’Occupation’’’: Member of Parliament, for Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1641; Mayor of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1645. Was listed in the bio but doesn't pertain to this Nehemiah Blakiston Gent. Possibly pertains to the father?

Magna Carta Project

Nehemiah Blakiston Gent. is listed in Magna Carta Ancestry as a Gateway Ancestor (vol. I, pages xxiii-xxix) in a Richardson-documented trail to Magna Carta Surety Baron John FitzRobert (vol. I, pages 214-217 BLAKISTON). This trail has not yet been developed on WikiTree by the Magna Carta Project. He is also in a trail to Surety Baron William de Lanvallei that needs development. The Magna Carta Project identified trails from the Blakiston Gateways to several other surety barons that need development. All these trails are set out below.

I removed the tag yesterday when I was doing research on that issue. Nehemiah was a devout Puritan but he went Maryland exclusively. He was of course a major proponent/player in the Glorious Revolution which helped bring an end to freedom of religion in Maryland.

Thanks Jillaine! I was going to e-mail you last night about this, but my computer crashed. I'll remove PGM project box & project account.

Cheers, Liz

What evidence exists that he was in New England prior to 1641? Without it, he does not qualify for the PGM template.

Thank you!

They do appear to be the same person, same birth and birth place, death and death place, same marriage and marriage date. The difference is the spelling of the last name.

Seems the name has been spelled Blakiston. So the merge should go into the PPP profile, Blakiston-11. Thanks!

Blakistone-2 and Blakiston-11 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these are the same person but I would like someone else look it over and see what y'all believe, Thanks

In the first paragraph, the mother of Col. Nehemiah Blakiston is named Elizabeth Bowes, but she is the Colonel's great-grandmother (also married to a John Blakiston).

His mother is correctly named in the data field at the top of the page, Susannah Harrison.

The biographies for Marmaduke and for John Blakiston the husband of Elizabeth Place belong on their own profiles.
