Paul and his brother Reynold Blakney owned and operated the Irving service station in Sackville, New Brunswick, on the corner of Main and Allison.
The construction work for the Irving service-station at the corner of Main and Allison avenue started in October 1936. On November 19, the first operators, Paul and Reynold Blakney, took the direction.
This building is now at the Acadian Village in Caraquet.
He married Phyllis Annie Hicks on 7 July 1951 in Sackville. [1]
He passed away in 2003 at the age of 95.[2]
"Paul B. Blakney SACKVILLE The death of Paul B. Blakney, age 92, of Sackville occurred on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Sackville he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Fawcett) Blakney. Paul was co-owner of the Sackville Harness Shop for 30 years. A veteran of World War II he served in the Canadian Navy as a radio repairman and was an avid radio amateur operator since 1938. He was a member of Lebanon Masonic Lodge # 28 F & AM and a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, being church Secretary-Treasurer for many years. Paul will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis (Hicks) Blakney, Sackville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Reynolds and 2 sisters, Arline and Gertrude." [2]
