Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of (Margaret) Jean Killam announce her passing which occurred on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the Moncton City Hospital. Born in California, US, on January 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Lorne and Charlotte (Weldon) Blakney. Jean was predeceased by her brother Lieutenant Laird Blakney, sister Ruth Blakney, son Laird Killam, spouse Arthur Killam, son-in-law Robert Runyan, son-in-law Roy Wilcox, granddaughter Charlotte Arias and grandson Jeffery Killam. Jean met the love of her life, Arthur, and married on October 18, 1941. They made a handsome couple going to social events, bowling, skating, snowmobiling, and hiking. Together, they raised five children while she worked at Woolworths and ran a floral business in Lewisville, N.B. After retirement, the pair travelled across Canada and the US, and later spent winters in Florida where they had been part of a motor home club. Most of us knew Jean as she slowed down, knitting, and crocheting, trailering in Shediac and enjoying the gentle waves of the Northumberland Strait. We want to remember Jean as the independent, adventurous, fearless, God-fearing, loving woman that she was. She shared her faith every chance she got. Praying fervently for her daughters, grand-daughters, grand-son’s, great-grand-children, and great-great-grandchildren each by name. There is no doubt to all who knew Jean that after her last breath was breathed her spirit would be raised to heaven to be with Jesus. She never faltered in her faith. Jean is survived by, her daughters Bette Ann Runyan of Florida, US, Carolyn Colpitts (Don) of Point de Bute, NB, Beverley Wilcox of Norton NB, Allyson Stephens of Shediac NB, daughter-in-law Rose Killam, and several loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In respect to Jean’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private celebration of her life will be held later by her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fairhaven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Rd, Moncton, N.B. 506-852-3530.

  • Fact: Immigration (1924-1952) Vermont, United States
