Research Note
"John Matthews Brake married Elizabeth Blanchard, daughter of William and Elizabeth. (We know this from notes to the will of Joseph Blanchard, Elizabeth's brother). John was one of Ralph and Jane's older children...born in Burgeo I believe. He was a widower at the time of Feild's visit. We believe that most of John's progeny constitute the Brake's of Trout River and Woody Point area[3]."
