The Blanchard family can be traced back with certainty seven generations from Angelle Blanchard to her 5th-great-grandfather Jean Blanchard. Jean was born in France in c. 1611 and was one of the earliest settlers in the French colony of Acadia. The next three generations were born in Acadia: Jean's son Martin, born in 1647, Martin's son Joseph, born in 1697, and Joseph's son Beloni, born 1741. During the Grand Derangement, Joseph and his family, including his son Beloni, were exiled from Ile St. Jean, Acadia to St. Malo, France aboard one of the Five Ships, departing November 25, 1758 and arriving St.-Malo January 23, 1759. Joseph died at sea; Beloni made it to France. Beloni's son Belony Jacque was born in exile in France in 1771. Beloni and his family sailed from France to Louisiana aboard the fifth of the Seven Ships, the Amitie, in 1785. Beloni Jacque's son Alexis was born in Spanish Louisiana in 1800; Alexis's son Hilaire was born in the state of Louisiana in 1832; Hilaire's daughter Angelle was born in Louisiana in 1873, a 5th generation Louisianan.
Angelle was born on February 15, 1873 to parents Hilaire Blanchard and Azelie Eulalie LeBoeuf. Some family trees list her name as "Angelic" but I have seen no source for that. All records list name as Angelle or Angele. Her birth was registered at St. John's Cathedral in Lafayette, LA. [1][2][3]
