Research Notes

Two of Worthy's sisters married Norton Lapham, according to FIndagrave, Mary's grandfather Asa Lapham (1764-bef.1810) had sons Asa Lapham (abt.1792-1856), Mary's father and Ethan L. Lapham (1782-1862) who had a son Norman.^[4]

If Worthy's sister Cynthia's middle name was 'Lapham' as findagrave indicates it could imply Lapham ancestors. A mother's line surname was a common middle name. On the other hand her husband's middle name was 'Upham' according to findagrave so the Lapham could be in error. Lapham is frequently mistranscribed in handwritten records.
