Biography

Charles was born 22 Jun 1894 in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Ohio. He was the son of Albert Bland and Elizabeth Schaffer. [1]

In 1900 he was living in Goshen Township New Philadelphia city Ward 1-2, Tuscarawas, Ohio.[2] The household included Albert Bland age 33, wife Elizabeth Bland age 23, son Charles Bland age 6, son Hobart Bland age 4 and daughter Catherine Bland age 1. All were born in Ohio except Albert born in Kansas. Albert and Elizabeth had been married 8 years. Elizabeth was the mother of 3 children, all living. Albert was a laborer in a rolling mill.

In 1910 he was living in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas, Ohio.[3] The household included Albert E Bland age 42, wife Elizabeth Bland age 32, son Charles C Bland age 15, son Hobert J Bland age 13, daughter Katherine B Bland age 10, son Albert A Bland age 5, daughter Verna E Bland age 3 and son Robert W Bland age 0 months. All were born in Ohio except Albert born in Kansas. Albert and Elizabeth had been married 18 years. Elizabeth was the mother of 7 children, 6 living. Albert was a pane heater at a rolling mill. Charles was a hostler at Hensels Barn.

He registered for the World War I draft in Canton, Ohio.[4] He was single and driving a team for a coal company.

In 1920 he was living in Stark, Ohio.[5] The household included Charles Bland age 25, wife Celia Bland age 35, stepdaughter Dora Cramer age 20, stepson Gerald Cramer age 14, step-grandson Kenneth Cramer age 2 and roomer William Hoon. All were born in Ohio except William born in Pennsylvania. Charles was a teamster with his own business. Dora was a roller bearing inspector. William was a teamster with a teaming company.

The marriage to Celia did not last long.

In 1930 he was living in Canton, Stark, Ohio.[6] The household included Charles Bland age 35, wife Marjorie Bland age 23, daughter Alice M Bland age 1, stepdaughter Betty A Sodders age 4 and lodger Viola Wilson age 28 all born in Ohio. Charles was a teamster for a construction company. Viola was a machine operator at a shirt factory.

In 1940 he was living in Ward 2, Canton City, Canton Township, Stark, Ohio.[7] The household included Charles Bland age 45, wife Marjorie Bland age 33, daughter Betty Bland age 15, daughter Alice M Bland age 11 and daughter Dorothy Bland age 9, all born in Ohio. Charles was a truck driver for a retail coal yard.

He died 21 Sep 1976 in Canton, Ohio.[8][9]

He is buried in Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, Stark County, Ohio.[10]
