Biography

Flavil was born 11 May 1898 in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois. He was the son of Charles Bland and Luella Hicks.

In 1900 he was living in Hallock township, Peoria, Illinois.[1] The household included Charles Bland age 23, wife Luella Bland age 21, son Flavel Bland age 2 and son Arthur Bland age 1. All were born in Illinois except Charles born in Kansas. Charles and Luella had been married 2 years. Luella was the mother of 2 children, both living. Charles was a farmer.

In 1910 he was living in Steuben Township, Marshall, Illinois.[2] The household included Charley Bland age 33, wife Luella Bland age 30, son Flavel Bland age 11, son Arthur Bland age 10, daughter Mabel Bland age 8, daughter Buelah Bland age 4, daughter Pearl Bland age 2 and hired man Norman Hicks age 21. All were born in Illinois except Charley born in Kansas and Buelah born in Iowa. Charley and Luella had been married 13 years. Luella was the mother of 5 children, all living. Charley was a farmer. Norman was a farm hand.

He registered for the World War I draft in Marshall, Illinois.[3] He was working as a farm hand for his father Charles, and named his mother Luella as next of kin.

Flavil Bland and Irma Waughop were married 20 Aug 1919, probably in Illinois.

In 1920 he was living in Whitefield Township, Marshall, Illinois [4] The household included Leslie Waughop age 46, wife Estella Waughop age 42, daughter Vada Waughop age 16, daughter Verla Waughop age 7 son-in-law Flavil (misindexed as Albert) Bland age 21 and daughter Irma (misindexed as Johanna) Bland age 22, all born in Illinois. Leslie ws a farmer.

In 1930 he was living in Whitefield Township, Marshall, Illinois.[5] The household included Flavil Bland age 32, wife Irma Bland age 33, son Leslie Bland age 9, daughter Lois J Bland age 7, daughter Mary B Bland age 1 and George Hayline age 23, all born in Illinois. Flavil was a farmer. George was a farm laborer.

In 1940 he was living in Steuben Township, Marshall, Illinois.[6] The household included Flavil Bland age 42, wife Irma Bland age 43, son Charles L Bland age 19, daughter Lois Jane Bland age 17, daughter Mary B Bland age 11, daughter Martha F Bland age 7, son William Bland age 5, son Dale Bland age 3 and daughter Faye Bland age 2, all born in Illinois. Flavil was a farmer. Charles was a farm hand.

He registered for the World War II draft in Bethany, Moultrie, Illinois.[7] He was employed by a John Deere dealer.

He died 19 Jun 1978 in Decatur, Macon, Illinois.[8] [9]

He is buried in Henry Cemetery, Henry, Marshall County, Illinois.[10]
