Biography

When Simeon Frederick Bland was born in 1838 in Washington, Georgia, his father, Simeon, was 41 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 36. He married Virginia Clara Hall in 1855 in Baldwin, Georgia. They had two children during their marriage: Jasper and Margaret. He died as a young father on May 14, 1863, in Jackson, Mississippi, at the age of 25.

Simeon served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. His brother Reuben H. Bland wrote his father Simeon Bland on May 19, 1863 from Mississippi to report the death of Simeon on May 14, 1863 during the Civil War.
