Biography

Ellen was born on the 5th December 1862 in Blean, Kent the daughter of Thomas Blandford and Jean Douglas (Rutt) Blandford.^[1][2]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Ellen was living at 4 Telford Terrace, Herne Bay, Kent with her parents Thomas and Jean, and her siblings Ernest, Annie and Arthur.^[3][4]

1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Ellen was living in Herne, Kent with her parents Thomas and Jean, and her siblings Annie and Edith.^[5]

1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Ellen a schoolmistress, was living in Essex Road, Westgate on Sea, Thanet, Kent with her parents Thomas and Jean, and her siblings Annie, Arthur and Edith.^[6]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Ellen was living in The Grove, Westgate College, Westgate on Sea, Thanet, Kent with her parents Thomas and Jean, and her siblings Edith and Arthur. Also living there were Edith's husband Samuel King, and their son Blandford King, and Arthur's wife Amy, and their children Evelyn and Eric.^[7]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Ellen was living in Westgate on Sea, Thanet, Kent with her widowed mother Jean.^[8]

1939 National Register on the 29th September 1939 Ellen was living at 21 Adrian Square, Margate, Essex with her widowed sister Edith.^[2]

Ellen, of 11 Princes Terrace, Queens Road, Westgate-on-Sea, Essex, died aged 80 on the 4th March 1943 at Church Manor, Parsonage Lane, Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire.^[9]

Probate of Ellen's estate, £1567 15s. 7d., was processed in Llandudno, Wales on the 21st May 1943 and passed to her siblings Arthur Henry Blandford a retired schoolmaster, and Edith Sarah (Blandford) King a widow.^[10]
