  1. Aaron (1784-1870), married Elizabeth Williams and #Amanda Dunford, lived his entire life in Wythe/Smyth County
  2. Jesse (ca 1785-1867) married Rhoda Odle/Odell went to Scott County and later died in Hawkins County, Tennessee
  3. George (1785-1873) married Sarah Williams ( possibly also Sarah James), lived in Smyth County and is buried at the Morgan Cemetery.
  4. Elizabeth "Betsy" (1795-ca 1871) married Thomas Quillen and stayed in Smyth Co.
  5. Nancy married Robert Johnson in 1808 and predeceased her father.
  6. Leah (1791-1875) married John Griffitts, Jr. and died in Smyth Co.
  7. Sallie (ca 1795-?) married Samuel Cloud in 1814 and left the area.
  8. Polly (dates unknown) married Jacob Kettering/Catron in 1825
  9. John (1799-1879) married Sallie Cole, eventually went to Carter Co., KY and is buried in Grayson, Kentucky
  1. Jacob Smothers, 2nd m. NANCY QUILLEN, b. 1845, Smyth County, Virginia, d/o E. QUILLEN and Nancy Sheets. Nancy died prior to Oct. 10, 1884 when Jacob married third wife. Children of Nancy and Jacob Smothers were 1. STEVEN E. SMOTHERS, b. 1879/80, VA;2.JOSEPH SMOTHERS, b 1884, Smyth Co., VA, d. 1884, age 7 months.
