Carl Christian Blankenburg was born June 20, 1888, in Danville, Illinois, to Christian Blankenburg and Emma Decker.
He graduated from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1909 with a degree in law, and was accepted into the bar for both Michigan and Illinois. He then opened a law practice in Danville, Illinois in 1910, and later went on to become a municipal court judge.
He married Frieda Kleinstuck November 11, 1911 at the People's Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Carl was a member of the Methodist Church, and was elected president of the Kalamazoo Kiwanis Club in 1928.
He passed away in April of 1974, and is buried in Mountain Home Cemetery, Kalamazoo, Michigan
