William Blanton was born about 1730 in Caroline, Virginia, the son of William Blanton and Margaret Moss. He married Hannah Rebecca Hobbs about 1759 in Virginia. They had the following children;
William Blanton and Hannah Hobbs were living in Knox, Kentucky in the year 1800. In the first Court of Quarter Sessions of Knox, Kentucky on September 25, 1800 they along with Ezekiel Hobbs and Christopher Hobbs were indicted for Breach of Peace.
On November 28, 1800 they were found guilty by a jury and fined 30 pounds. [2]
William died in 1818 in Cannon County, Tennessee. He is buried at the Blanton-Osement Cemetery in Cannon County, Tennessee. [3]There us a Revolutionary Veteran Grave Marker at his burial site for his service under General George Washington during the Revolutionary and French and Indian Wars.[4]
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
On this day [19 Apr 1855] personally appeared before me a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid, Aggy Johnston a resident of this County, Who in due and Solemn form of law doth, On her oath, declare that she is seventy one years of age, and the sixth born Child of her Father and mother, that she is the Daughter of William Blanton, a Soldier of the revolution, as she thinks, from the State of Virginia, that her Father the said William Blanton served under Genl. George Washington at Braddocks defeat [defeat of Gen. Edward Braddock on 9 July 1755 in the French and Indian War], that he served to the end of the Revolutionary War. as she thinks from what she has heard him say, in the Virginia Continental line, that said William Blanton never applied for a pension, that he died about the year, 1817, that his widow Hannah Blanton died in the year 1833 about the last of Otr. or Nov’r, that the said Hannah at the time of her death left the following named Children, to wit. John who is dead, Elizabeth, dead, Vincent, dead, Rutha, dead, Joel, dead, Mary – dead, Hannah, dead Claibourn, dead, that the said Aggy Johnston is sole, and only living Heir at law, of said William Blanton and hannah his wife, She alleges that, the said William served the war through, to the end thereof, and became entitled to Bounty land, and a reward of eighty dollars promised by Congress. If said Service, Justus the Claime, she prays it may be granted to her. She will adduce proof of service Aggy herXmark Johnston Abingdon April 21 - 1855 Com’r. of pensions/ Dear Sir/ to please applicant, Mrs Aggy Johnston, sole & only Heir of Wm Blanton.[5]
I make this declaration, She asserts, her Fathers Service in the Revolution, and service against the Indians in 1790 to 1792–3, for the last Service She has not yet made declaration for Bounty land, James Head, can prove his Service against the Indians, & Head says Huff can prove the same, I state this, knowing any proof for Indian Service will avail neither as there is no widow or minor children I am Dear Sir Very respectfully your Obt S’t/ J W. Stevens.[6]

I have a G4 grandfather, Vincent Blanton, born in 1826, attributed elsewhere as the son of a Vincent Blanton, born 1790. Trying to figure out where he fits.
