Her father died in 1898. Dot, who was 17 years old, was enumerated on the 1900 United States Census in the household of her widowed mother, Agnes C. Blanton. Dot's older sister, Fannie, was also a member of the household. They were living in Flat Creek Township, Lancaster County, South Carolina.[1]

Marriages:

  1. Dot was married first Francis Marion Mobley on 20 November 1901 in Kershaw, Lancaster County, South Carolina.[2][3] They were the parents of 2 sons, Francis Marion Mobley (who died in infancy) and Errol Blanton Mobley and two daughters, Agnes Jamison (Mobley) Spires (1907-1993) and Dorothy Aramenta (Mobley) Laird (1911-1990). Francis Marion Mobley died in 1916.

Dot and her husband Francis Mobley were enumerated as a married couple on the 1910 United States Census for Pleasant Hill, Lancaster County, South Carolina. Dot had given birth to 3 children. One had died in 1903. The 2 living children were recorded in the household in 1910.[4]

When the 1920 United States Census was taken, Dot was living in the household of her second husband, E. L. Laird in Buford Bridge, Bamberg County, South Carolina. Other members of the household were Dot's children from her first marriage, and E. L. Laird's children from his first marriage--a total of 8 children.[5]
