His father's name, John Blanton, and birth place, Lee County, are reported in the marriage record (to Elizabeth in 1856), but his specific birth date and mother's name are not included.
Marriages
William married twice (at least) as his 1856 marriage record reports he was a widower.
He married on 20 Mar 1820 in Virginia, to Elizabeth Gilley.[1] She died on 1 August 1855.[1]
He married on 05 Aug 1856 at Wise County, as his 2nd, and as her 2nd, to Elizabeth (Wells) Creech, daughter of William Wells and Susan Ward, widow of Mortimer Creech.[2][1]

There may have been two (or more) men named William Blanton in southwest Virginia during the 1800s. Also, apparently both married women named Elizabeth, or one married two women named Elizabeth. More research is needed to determine.
Children
Some attribute the Blanton children listed in the William Blantion Bible to Elizabeth's 2nd marriage to William Blanton:
Rosanna Blanton b 9 Nov 1858,
Amanda E. Blanton 6 Jun 1861,
Isaac F. Blanton 26 Jan 1863,
Sara Evaline Blanton 26 Apr 1865,
Lorra Bell Blanton 6 Jun 1866,
James F. Blanton 12 Mar 1869.
However, it seems more likely these were grandchildren. In order for these to have been children of Elizabeth (Wells), she would have been 57 years old when the youngest was born. In addition, one of the names were already used for children of William Blanton's first marriage: Isaac.
