Grace was born in Collingbourne Ducis, Wiltshire, about 1812. Her forenames originate from her grandmother Grace Goodenough (1740-1799) who was herself a granddaughter of Stephen Goodenough and his wife Elizabeth (née Chubb) of Winterbourne Stoke, Wiltshire - the founding couple of a considerable dynasty.
Grace married (1839) William Kemp Clough, said to be a 'confectioner'. They lived for a time in Wilton, close to Salisbury, where their son William Henry Clough was born in 1841. The couple later moved to Dorset where they took on the (paid) positions of Master and Matron of the Union (Workhouse) in Sturminster Newton. This continued until her husband's death in 1865.
Subsequently Grace followed her son William, whose work took him eventually to N.E. England, to Gateshead-on-Tyne, where he was an Accountant with the National Provincial Bank. Grace occupied herself with being a grandmother to William's sizeable family. She passed away in 1885.
