Son of William Henry Blatch and Catherine Mary Blatch.
William Henry, the third of that name, was a Master Brewer like his father, but moved from Berkshire and settled in Basingstoke in Hampshire along with his father, stepmother Lydia and several siblings.
At the age of thirty-one he married Harriet Eaton Stanton, a formidable American suffragist, and two daughters resulted: Nora Stanton Blatch (1883) and Helen Stanton Blatch (1892 - who died aged four). This being the age of globalisation, William's bride was from New York, USA, and this fact became most important as he reached his fifties, perhaps early retirement and relative prosperity. His last appearance in a British census was in 1901, when he and his wife were in Haslemere, Surrey - with their surviving daughter safely packed off somewhere, perhaps in boarding school, or in America. In 1904 he is seen at Ellis Island, New York, entering the United States, and he appears on the passenger lists from other liner sailings, in 1906 and 1909, at one point giving an address in Long Island, NY. In 1911 he applies for United States citizenship, and may even have been granted same. It appears he died from being accidentally electrocuted.
A gravestone found on th Billion Graves website shows that he was returned to England for burial: in the churchyard of Theale (Berkshire) a memorial reads "William Henry Blatch June 10 1851 - August 2 1915 and his little daughter Helen July 3 1892 - June 11 1896"
