Elizabeth was probably born in the village of Witton-Cum-Twambrooks, adjacent to Northwich, in 1768. No birth or baptism record has been discovered, but the register of her marriage states that at that time, 1788, she was 20 years old. Also, her death record states that 1768 was her birth year and that she was 43 at the time of her death in 1811. [1]

Elizabeth, (also referred to as Betty) married George Gorst, a blacksmith, at the Witton-Cum-Twambrooks Chapel on 6 Dec 1788, [2] and they raised nine children at Witton. [3]

She died on 13 Sep 1811 and was buried at the Witton Chapel on 15 Sep 1811.

Research Notes

Elizabeth's burial record states that her father was William Bleasse and her mother was Nancy, which at the time was a nickname for Ann. Ann was used in the registers of marriage and her children's baptism, so was her formal name.

It was noted that her surname is variously spelled Bleas, Bleass, or Blease, etc.
