According to the 1911 Census, Jules Bleau was born in December 1839 [sic= 1838; see death certificate below] in Montcalm, Canada-East (Province of Quebec). He was of French Canadian origin and a Roman Catholic. His parents were Joseph Bleau and his wife, Suzanne (Mazuret) (Lapierre) Bleau.
On July 23, 1867, Jules Bleau married Philomène Brien in St-Jacques-de-L' Achigan, Montcalm, Québec City, Canada. The couple lived in St-Jacques, Montcalm, Quebec, Canada, where they were reported on the 1871 and also on the 1881 Canadian Census:
Shortly after the 1881 Canadian Census, Jules Bleau and his family left Quebec, moving west to a farm in Alfred Township, Prescott County, Ontario. Better, less-expensive farmland was available in this part of Ontario next to western Quebec and the area was mostly French-speaking in the late 19th Century. He and Philomène (Brien) Bleau had 2 more sons there:
Victor Bleau, b: 1886 in Alfred, Prescott, Ontario, Canada
Joseph Bleau, b: 1888 in Alfred, Prescott, Ontario, Canada
Philomène Bleau died between 1888 and 1891, in Prescott, Ontario, Canada. The exact date is not known at present nor has any Find A Grave Memorial been found for her.
On the 1891 Canadian Census, Jules Bleau, is reported as a 52-year-old Widower, farming in Alfred Township, Prescott County, Ontario, Canada. The Census summary does not list the children still living with him. On October 13, 1895, Jules Bleau remarried to Émélie Morin in Saint Victor Roman Catholic Church, Alfred Township, Prescott-Russell County, Ontario, Canada. So far as can be determined, they did not have any children together.
Jules Bleau continued to live on his farm in Alfred Twp., Prescott County, Ontario as reported on both the 1901 and 1911 Canadian Census reports. The 1911 Census included the entire household:
Victor Bleau.........Son..........M..........25y..........Ontario
Joseph Bleau........Son..........M.........23y...........Ontario
Albert Sequin.......G-Son......M..........01y..........Ontario
Jules Bleau died on December 17, 1919, in Alfred Twp., Prescott County, Ontario, Canada. His death certificate states he was 81 years old, correct if he were born in December 1838. His parents were named as Joseph Bleau and Susanne (Lapierre) Bleau. No Find A Grave Memorial has been found for Jules Bleau; it's presumed that he is buried at St. Victor's RC Church in Alfred as that is where he married in 1895 and no doubt was a parishioner.
