Biography

Edward was born in 1880, the son of Paul Adolph Eduard Blech, of Danzig, Germany, and Annie (Sorrel) Blech.^[1] He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, likely due to his father's business. He left Alexandria in 1889 and the family moved to Germany. He left Germany in 1902, and sailed aboard the Dominion Liner from Liverpool, England, arriving in New York on 15 August 1902. He lived in Portsmouth, Virginia, and Washington, D. C., from 1902 to 1910. He was naturalized as a citizen on 28 February 1908, at Norfolk, Virginia. He began working in Cuba for the Soledad Sugar Company.

He married Harriet Myrtilla Disdrow in 1915.^[2] He passed away in 1960.
