Notes from Linda Bledsoe Alexander
This is the son, James H Bledsoe would have been born around 1872, as the children listed in chronological order in Thomas Manley Bledsoe Obituary .
However, the courthouse at Leon, Decatur Co.,Iowa burned in 1874 and al records were lost to the fire. Recordings did not resume until 1880.
The 1880 census does not reflect James H in the household, and this compiler believes this is because he was already deceased. The mother, Sarah Ellen (Kincaid) McBee Bledsoe, died 12-5-1880 of tuberculosis. No grave has ever been located for she or this son, though her death certificate is on file at Leon, IA and reflects her as being buried at Van Wert, Decatur CO, Iowa cemetery. No known tombstone was ever erected at her grave until this compiler and other descendants had one set in March 1999 for both Sarah and Thomas M Bledsoe.
This compiler also contacted the Methodist Church office at Leon, Iowa and records were searched for that county for the4 Bledsoe family, hoping to find baptism/funeral records for both Sarah Ellen and her son, James H, to no avail.
Unsourced family tree handed down to Lela Cook.
