He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Kerry

He gained the rank of Captain in 1643 in the service of the Foot.2 He acquired the forfeited McElligott lands of East and West Ballymacelligott, Ballygrelah, and East and West Gortanleas in 1661.

He lived at Ballycarty Castle, Ballyseedy, County Kerry, Ireland. His Will was probated on 18 Oct 1673; proved in the Proragative Court on the 14th of Sept 1676.
