Samuel Blevins #1 (3rd Gen) (John #1-2, William #1-1) b. ca 1738 – 1745 in Henry Co., VA. Samuel m. (1) Joann _____? (2) Mary Elizabeth Cox. Samuel was in Henry Co., Va and signed an oath of allegiance first to the State of Virginia in October of 1777 with nephews Willoughby, James Jr., William Jr., John #4 and Dillon Blevins and later to the Commonwealth of Virginia in December 1777 along with James Jr., William Jr., William Blevins Sr., Williby Blevins, John Blevins, Dillion Blevins. Samuel was on the Montgomery Co., Va tax list in 1787 along with nephews James, and Daniel Blevins and Willoughby ‘Willoboy’ Blevins. Samuel was exempted from paying taxes in 1809, indicating he was probably aged and/or infirm. The family was found in Lincoln County, Ky in 1800 to 1810 and in Garrard Co., Ky, before 1820. Samuel Jr. and Lemuel moved to Jefferson Co., Ky and were on the 1820 Census in Middletown which is east of Louisville, Ky. Lemuel, and John #9 are also living in Jefferson Co., Ky in 1820.
