Biography

Some have indicated the middle name of James for Cecil. None of the documents show this. The Find A Grave monument has James which may not be correct.

Cecil Blevins was born in Rushville, Nebraska. Around the age of 14 he traveled to Likely, California and worked in the hay fields of a cattle ranch for a summer. He then returned to the Nebraska area. Later he returned to Likely, California and married Willetta Leona Smith in Likely, California. There they raised cattle and sheep over the years. They had ranches in the foothills and also down in the valley of Likely California. They had two children, Helen Sophia Blevins and Cecil James Blevins Jr, who were raised in Likely. Cecil Blevins went to Quincy California for about a year, to run a tavern, but then came back to Likely California. In later years he worked during haying season on local ranches, fixed lawnmowers and worked at the Likely tavern. He also loved to hunt and fish. He went to work at a bar in Quincy, California for a year while his wife stayed in Likely. He was in WWI and went to France where he became a cook. He registered for WWII but was declined due to age.
