A son, Henry, Christened 22 June 1851[1] does not appear in subsequent records.
The 1861 census[2] shows children Frederick, James and William, but not Henry.
The convergence of names: Frederick, Susannah and Canterbury on an 1865 Christening suggest that Elizabeth Blithe[3] may be a misread for 'Bligh', though Elizabeth does not appear on later census data.
The young family is living in Thanet in 1871[4] and includes three sons and a daughter born in Middlesex and Kent.
The maturing family of 1881[5] includes William (18), Mary (14) and Priscilla (11).
Frederick appears on the 1901 census as a retired carpenter born in Canterbury, age 74[7] where he is living in the household of his son, William in Ramsgate, Kent. William is absent but the family can be clearly identified from his daughter-in-law Elizabeth and his grandchildren who are the children of William and Elizabeth, some of them recorded as having been Christened by the Bligh/Petley couple married in 1886.
Frederick's William is of an age to fit the data for the William who is Alfred Ernest Bligh's father only if you regard the 1891 census as having a transcription error of '3' for '8' in William's age.
