James Edward Blish Ed Blish, a respected citizen of this village, passed away at his home here Sunday afternoon at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 5 days, following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 from the Mealy-Lindorff funeral home and at 1:30 from the Methodist church, in charge of Rev. Irish. Burial was made in the Pine Eden cemetery.

Wonewoc Reporter: James Edward Blish was born in the town of Summit Juneau county, August 22, 1854. He spent his early life on a farm in Summit. In the spring of 1881, he went to Athol, S. Dak. where he took up a homestead of 160 acres of land near that village. He lived there for several years then came back to his farm in Summit. Later he disposed of both farms and bought a small farm near Wonewoc. He was united in marriage to Susan Schulz of Milwaukee in 1912. Later they went to Michigan where he was employed in an auto factory for several years. After the war he came to Milwaukee and continued his factory experience in that city. His wife died during the winter of 1923. He contineued his work in Milwaukee for several years. He was united in marriage to Catherine Elser of Gary, Indiana in the fall of 1924. In the spring of 1926 he resigned his job in Milwaukee and came to Wonewoc to reside. His wife, Catherine passed away two years ago. Since then he has resided by himself in the Carrie Blish home. In passing we will say he was a man who attended strictly to his own business, never meddling with other people's affairs. His enemies were few, if any. Such is the record of his life. He is survived by five brothers. Sumner of Athol, S. Dak. Dave in Summit, John in the village of Wonewoc, Arthur in Summit and Maurice of Neilsville, also by three sisters. Mrs. Phoebe Norton and Carrie Blish of Wonewoc and Mrs. M. C. Williams of Milwaukee.
