Samuel Bliss immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
Samuel Bliss, son of Thomas & Margaret (Hulings) Bliss.[1] His parents were married in 1621 in England, and his father Thomas arrived at Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1635.
Birth/Baptism
Samuel Bliss, was probably Samuel, son of Thomas, baptized 4 Feb 1637 at St. Mary de Crypt, Gloucester.[2][3]
Marriage
Samuel was united in marriage on 10 November 1665 in Springfield, Massachusetts Bay Colony, to Mary Leonard, daughter of John & Sarah (Heard) Leonard of Springfield Massachusetts Bay Colony. [4][5][6][7]
Death
Samuel passed away on 23 March 1720 in his hometown of Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.[8][9][10][11]
There is/was a "memorial" monument[12] in the Springfield Cemetery that contained the name and death of Samuel, 2nd in a long pedigree line starting with Margaret (d. 1684) and the last death is an Alex died 1827. Is this the actual burial place? No. Springfield Cemetery was not in existence at the time of his death. Remains were removed from an older cemetery near the river west of the church and placed in a mass grave at the Springfield Cemetery in 1848.
Samuel died on 23 Mar 1720 and was buried in Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.
