This enslaved ancestor's profile has a preliminary Last Name At Birth (LNAB) until a surname can be determined. Please see the US Black Heritage Naming Conventions for Slaves before merging or changing the LNAB.
The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.
USBH Naming Conventions for Slaves: LNAB based on the first slave owner. Current last name based on most recent slave owner. In Other Last Names list all other slave owners.
After reviewing numerous slave appraisals I found that the young and old were valued less than others; females less than males. When I compared this sale with the others on the record I estimated that Dicy was about 12 years old when Barkley Martin Blocker (1790-1849) sold her. The death date is for after the last transfer date. Everything can be modified as more records are found.
