Biography

Arent was the son and first recorded child of Frederick Bloem and his wife Grietje (Margriet). He was baptized on 29 April 1657 in the Reformed Dutch Church, New Amsterdam, New Netherland, recorded as the child of Fredrick Arentszen and Margriet Pieters. Witnesses were Pieter Jacobszen Marius and Wyntie Van der Vin.^[1]

His first marriage was on 7 April 1680, to Sara Theunis Coevers, in the Reformed Dutch Church of New York. He was described as a single man from New Yorke, and she was a single woman from New Breuckelen; both were residents of New Yorke.^[2][3] They are recorded as parents of five children.

After Sara died, Arent Fredricszen married Hester Daniels in the New York church on 17 September 1690. He was described as the widower of Sarah Couvers, while Hester was a single woman from New York. Both were residents of New York.^[4][5] They are recorded as parents of three children.

Death

He died before 13 March 1709, when his wife Hester Daniels witnessed a baptism and was described as the widow of Arent Blom. ^[6]

There is a will 24 Nov 1704 of a Teunis Blom, leaving his estate to brother Arent, also mentions brother Frederick. Proved 12 Sep 1713 with letters of administration issued to Hester widow of Arent Blom. Abstract of NY Wills liber 8 page 288. ^[14]
