Biography

William Bloodworth born 1779 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina was the son of William Bloodworth Sr. and Millicent "Milly" DeLoach, daughter of Samuel DeLoach and Mary Boykin. William Sr. was born in North Carolina about 1741 and died in Edgecombe North Carolina in February 1794. Milly was born in Virginia and died in Mississippi. They married about 1773 in Northhampton, Virginia.

William Jr. married Frances Cole, daughter of Joseph Cole & Sarah Barton, about 1803 in Wilson/Sumner County, Tennessee. He enlisted at Lebanon, Tennessee in the 1st Regiment of Mounted Riflemen and served in the Creek Indian War of 1812-13. He received a land grant on Nov. 28, 1826 in Fayette County, Tennessee. on Bear Creek (Branch of Big Hatchie River) for 1000 acres.
