Biography
Alden D. Bloom was born in November 1857. [1] He was the son of Nathan Bloom and Catherine (Smith) Bloom. [2][3]
Alden married Eva May Slater in 1886. [4] They settled in Chemung County, New York, where Alden was a Blacksmith. [5] They had a son Frederick L. Bloom.
Alden died December 12, 1926 in Horseheads, New York. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, Chemung County, New York. [6]
Alden D. Bloom, 68, died unexpectedly Sunday at 6:30 p.m., at the home of Fred Bennett in Horseheads. He had been a resident of Horseheads for 40 years and was held in high respect by a large circle of acquaintances. He is survived by a son, Fred L. Bloom, of Horseheads; three grandchildren, Evelyn, Harlow and Lorenzo Bloom, all of Horseheads; six sisters, Mrs. Fay Bowers, Mrs. Orley VanMarter, Mrs. Minnie Sherwood and Mrs. Hattie teeter, all of Ithaca; Mrs. George Swartwood of Swartwood, and Mrs. Newell Morgan of Groton; two brothers, Edward of Ithaca, and William of Asbury…Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads. – Star-Gazette, Elmira, New York, Monday, December 13, 1926.
