William was an editor of an anti-slavery newspaper in Kansas. He was a Lieutenant in the 108th New York Volunteer Infantry and was wounded at the battle of Antietam. Later, he worked as an aid to General Dietzler, with the rank of Captain. At the end of the war, he was brevetted Major by Governor Fenton.[2]
William, along with his brother, Henry Culver Bloss established and ran the ‘Morning Herald’ in Titusville, Pennsylvania, selling out his share in 1883.[3]
William lived in Rochester, Monroe, New York in 1850[4] and 1855, with his parents.[5]
William married Louisa Kate Skinner in St Louis, St Louis, Missouri on 24 Aug 1856.[6] They had three children, including:
They lived in Rochester, Monroe, New York in 1860,[7] in Titusville, Crawford, Pennsylvania in 1870,[8] and in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri in 1880.[9]
