George Hobbs and Matilda Blott were married after banns at St Phillip's, Bethnal Green, Middlesex on 25th December 1854.[1] They were bachelor and spinster and both just 18 years old. George was a cabinet maker living at 9 New Inn Street, the son of Thomas Hobbs who was also a cabinet maker. Matilda was living at 2 Olive Street and the daughter of Joshua Blott who was a greengrocer. They each signed their own name on the register and the witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Hobbs and Frances Blott.[2]
