Jim David Blount,86,of Dumas died Tuesday at Little Rock.He was born Feb.17,1921,at Rose Hill,a son of the late A.C. Blount and Bettie Maie Henley Blount.He served in the Army during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.He was a farmer.He was a member of Anderson Chapel Baptist Church.He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.He was also a charter member of the Flat Creek Hunting Club and served as President until his retirement.Survivors include his wife,Avinell Wells Blount;one daughter,Sybil Blount Whitaker of Dumas;one sister,Maie Bell Carter of Monticello;two grandchildren;five great-grandchildren;and three great-great-grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by two brothers,C.L. Blount and W.G. Blount;and four sisters,Estelle Donaldson,Winnie Wells,Lois Blount and Vermie Morgan.Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Anderson Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs.Walter Gilbreath,Bob Sivils,Junior Tatum and Tommy Lanthrip officiating.Burial will be in Tyro cemetery by Griffin Funeral Service at Dumas.Visitation will be at his home,3610 Arkansas 54,Dumas.Memorials may be made to the Tyro Cemetery Fund or to the Tyro Church Fund
