Through our findings in Marjorie, his sister's letters of 1934 and 1935 to their mother, it appears as though Jackie was attending Wiley College at the same time.

When preparing our mother's house for sale, several pictures were discovered of Jack and most notably he was illustrated in a small booklet at the Roman school he taught. Eileen and I will be researching a strange connection. Coincidentally, both Jackie and Eileen's husband, Bernard in his youth, attended the same Roman school. A fact that only came to light many years later long after Eileen had been married. While they could have attended the school at the same time; it appears as though they never came in contact with each other. Hopefully more on this small world story can be further substantiated in the future.

It could be that this was Richey's favorite brother and clearly he was well loved by everybody in the family and very popular with other relatives, including myself. Long after his departure and as a young person in the YMCA, I heard his name mentioned (favorable light) so many times in the swimming circles at Seattle's downtown YMCA. He was not only a highly respected person but also an excellent swim coach. At some time, we know he had summer swim school camps at Orcas Island. The accuracy of the timeline regarding Uncle Jack as we affectionately called him is not so clear. We know that he met a wonderful Italian woman, Ivanna, during WW II in Rome. After the war, and across the Atlantic, they kept the romance alive and were married several years later. But when and how much time he spent in America is not clear. We do know that most of his life was spent in Italy where he had a famous swim school and studied medicine for many years. After many long hard years, he finally gained his medical degree but tragically and mysteriously died of cirrhosis of the liver within a few short years thereafter. We will always love you Uncle Jack. Hopefully with any luck we will be able to produce the pictures of his graduation. It was recently announced, his grandaughter, Olivia is keeping his tradition alive as she has been accepted to medical school.

Susie, please note some of these are photos you've seen and others you've not seen. I took the liberty to add them purely on a trial basis. Because it's your immediate family, I want you to make the final decision on your respective family members' profile page regarding what pictures stay up or keep. In any event we want you to have digitals of all these photos. BB
