Biography

John was born on 25th July 1796 in County Fermanagh, Ireland.

He married Jane Boyd c1816 in County Fermanagh, Ireland. John and Jane had 4 children together - William, James, Ann (also known as Nancy) and Joseph.

After Jane's death in 1836 in County Monaghan, Ireland, John married Ann Elliott in May 1838.

John together with his second wife, Ann, and his 4 children from his first marriage set sail from Plymouth, Devon, England on 8 Dec 1838 for New South Wales aboard the barque 'Susan'.

They arrived in New South Wales on 10 March 1839.

John and Ann had 10 children who were all born in New South Wales.

John died on 29th January 1878 and was buried at Gerringong NSW on 30th January, 1878.
