Biography

1776 Project
Lieutenant Uriah Blue performed Patriotic Service in Virginia in the American Revolution.

Uriah Blue is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A133366.
Uriah Blue is the descendant of a New Netherland settler.

Son of John Blew (1691–1770) and Cattron Van Meter Blue (1693–1775)

NOTE: There was more than 1 'Uriah Blue' who served in the Revolutionary War. The following information for this Uriah Blue, husband of Mary Jordan, was found in the bio on the memorial page at findagrave.com for his great-grandson, William Solomon Blue (see link to memorial in Sources below)

ALSO NOTE: Burial records have been created for Uriah at both Berkeley County, Virginia/West Virginia and Miami, Ohio (his supposed farm there) with different years of death. Unclear if he died in 1796 or in 1806.

FACT: West Virginia became a state of the Union on 20 June 1863. Prior to becoming a state of the Union, West Virginia was a part of the state of Virginia. Uriah died in Berkeley County, Virginia, today West Virginia.

Uriah lived in New Castle, Delaware, as a young man, where he reported a runaway slave in 1751.[2] He later moved west to Ohio, possibly after serving in the Revolutionary War. Served as 2nd Lieutenant in Revolutionary War at Washington City. [3] He passed away in 1806. Buried on his Farm in near Troy, Miami Co., Ohio.
