Johann Georg Blum was born about 1619. He was the son of Velten Blum.
In 1641, he was named heir to the "Schwarze Adler" (Black Eagle), an inn in Flieden, taking over for his step-mother Elisabeth, who had married his father Velten years earlier[1]. He served as innkeeper in Flieden for decades. He was succeeded by his son Melchior Blum and the inn remained in the family for generations.
He is sometimes recorded as "Hans Georg.”
He married Gertrud Raniss of Fulda on 9 September 1644 in Flieden[2]. They had the following children:
After Gertrud passed away in 1659, he married for a second time to Catharina. Their children:
He passed away on 2 November 1694 in Flieden[3].
Marriage records seem to be incomplete for Flieden around 1657-1659, so that may be why a record for his 2nd marriage has not been found yet. Or they may have married elsewhere.
He may have had a son Johann Jacob, who lived in Aufenau in the parish of Bad Orb and had children around the 1680s, as he was the godfather of his great-grandson Johann Jacob Blum in 1713.
