Biography

William Lucas was an early settler of Middletown; on 22 March 1670, his name appeared on the list of householders and proprietors. This was four years after his marriage. According to the biographical sketch of the Rev. Daniel Lucas, William's wife was Hester Blunt: ".....William settled in Middletown, Conn., where he married Hester Blunt in 1666."

For over 150 years it was thought that Hester Clark might have been a daughter of John Clark: "Lucas, William: Middletown, married 12th July 1666, Esther, perhaps daughter of John Clark, of New Haven, who died 15th April, and he died 20th April, 1690, leaving William, born 26th April 1667; John, 14th October, 1669, Mary, 5th December, 1672; Thomas, 1676; and Samuel, 15th April, 1682."
