Jonathan Bly born 1732 was an indentured servant. The family splits began in that generation probably due to financial losses.
Jonathan's father was William Bly, who disappeared in about 1840. His father was Daniel Bly who left a will to son William. Daniel was one of the original land deed holders of the "Vacant Lands of the Narragansett", for Bly's Purchase in 1709. Daniel's probable father was John Bly (Bligh) of Salem, or his brother Thomas Bligh of Boston.
Jonathan Bly of North Kingstown, Rhode Island migrated with the family to Renssaeler, New York, then back to Rhode Island.

The North Kingstown records are extremely limited as there was a major fire in the courthouse in 1869. This lost not only North Kingstown records, but many of the older records from the colonial Kings Towne.
