Biography

"Avy" grew up at Fishers Hill, Shenandoah County, Virginia, then as a young woman during the war years, lived in Strasburg and worked at the American Viscose plant in Front Royal. In the 1950s she went to northern Virginia and took a job in Washington with the Bureau of Standards and for a while with the Pentagon. About 1966 Avy became production manager of an electronics firm, located in Point of Rocks, Maryland, and remained there until retirement in 1989, at which time she returned to Strasburg, where she spent her retirement years.
