Edwin Percival Blye or Bly was born 30 August 1819 in New York state the son of William Bly and Ruth Hart.[1][2]
Edwin is listed as an heir in this father's will.[2]
Edwin and Emeline Neal married 20 Jan 1841.[1] They were the parents of three daughters, Lola, Inez and Matie Louise.
In 1855, they were living at DeRuyter, Madison, New York where Edwin was a cabinetmaker. According to the New York Census, he had been residing there about fifteen years.[3]
By 1860, the family had moved to Union, Rock, Wisconsin where Edwin continued to work as a cabinetmaker.[4]
Edwin served as a soldier during the Civil War in three different units.[5][6][7]
The family continued to live in the Janesville, Rock, Wisconsin area.[8][9][10][11]
Edwin applied for a military pension in 1888.[12] The 1890 Census of Union Veterans and Widows of the Civil War finds him at the Northwestern Branch of the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers at Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.[13]
There are two entries for Edwin on the 1895 Wisconsin Census.[14][15]
Edwin died 24 January 1896 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is buried in Wood National Cemetery at Milwaukee.[16]
