Ethel Barrymore, once regarded as the "First Lady of the American Theatre," was an actress whose career spanned six decades.
Born in 1879 in Philadelphia, she was the second child of actors Maurice Blythe and Georgiana Drew. In 1909 she married Russell Griswold Colt. They had three children, Samuel, Ethel and John, before divorcing in 1923.
