Thanks for signing up to the Connect-a-Thon this weekend from Saturday morning on 19 January 2024 at 2:00 a.m. until Tuesday morning 22 January 2024 at 2:00 a.m. Kiwi Crew team page gives all the details about where to work from. We will be chatting on the Kiwi Crew Discord server rather than through G2G. Please message me if you have any queries.

If you create a profile with only one source, please add the category New Zealand, Needs More Records, so someone can go and improve the profile even further.

Hello Rose,

I have made a subcategory for the Holt's from Australia and New Zealand on the Holt Name Study.

I hope this was what you meant.

Heya, Rose, is there a specific reason you want to have TL access to the NZ Politicians space page? It is totally open and can be edited by anyone.

Thanks for having a Big Heart and taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. You will want to read this After Adopting Orphans as it explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. You may also want to go through the new member help on How to manage your Watchlist.

Hi Rose

After a long break, we are now getting the New Zealand Project back in action. I notice that you are already a member of the Kiwi Crew Discord server. This is where we are discussing how the project will be organised, though any major changes will be signposted in G2G. (Make sure you follow the new_zealand tag).

Hi Rose,

It’s time for our annual Ireland Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know:

  • If you are happy with the team you’re on or if you’d like to make a change. It is now required that all members with an Ireland project badge work on at least one of the project’s team(s), so if you’ve not yet signed up please do so in your reply to this check-in.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what (if any) changes you would like to see us make? Are there any teams you would like to become more active in?
  • Would you be interested in helping to work on an Ireland Project newsletter?
  • Please give us some feedback on the use of google group and discord. Do you use one or both of these? If you don’t use either of them, what is the best way for us to ensure you receive project communications? If you would like to join us on either one, Just let us know in your response and we will get you signed up.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the Ireland Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back. Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely, Jen Hutton, on behalf of the Ireland Project

Rose,

Thank you for contributing to the January 2022 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.

Hi Rose,

I keep finding people who could be be Thomas Harris (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Harris-37483) and then discover for some reason or another they turn out not to be. So still not much "luck" yet. Let me know if you find anything.

Am not sure where in Scotland they came from. The only information that i have regarding them is that they came from scotland and I have my Grandfathers name which is John Mckellar Donaldson and he would have had to be born around the 1833's

Sorry about the delayed response Rose. My great great grandfather came from Scotland at a very young age with his family. Am unsure of the exact family members that he came with. I am assuming his Mother , Father and sibblings. I am only sure of one sibling am not suire who the rest of them are. sm sctuslly looking for a birth certificate or a passenger list showing his name or his brothers name (John Mckellar Donaldson and Samuel Mckellar Donaldson). his fathers name was Robert Donaldson. I am not aware of where in Scotland they came from. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply Rose. I am searching for James Keane from possibly County Clare born around 1820 and married to Mary O'Brien. His son came to Australia around 1856. Anything you find would be most helpful.

Hi Rose

The Ireland Project (previously the Irish Roots Project) has now changed its structure into Teams. We require everyone with the Ireland Badge to be a member of at least one Team or Sub-Team and our google group.

See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Ireland for details.

The Teams are :-

1 Categories Team
2 Counties Team
3 Managed Profiles Team
4 Membership Team
5 Profile Improvement Team
6 Topics Team
7 Diaspora

Can you let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project and which team(s) you’d like to join. Please also let me know your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group or confirm you are already a member of the google group.

Many thanks,

Hello Rose,

The Categorization project sent out google group emails asking for a check-in from active members (2 emails, a week apart) and we did not hear from you. We are removing the project badge from inactive members. You are welcome to rejoin us at any time if you wish to join our google group and be part of one of our maintenance teams. Thanks!
