Biography

Frank Boehm has German Roots.
Frank was a Roman Catholic.

Frank, son of John Boehm and Mary Kessler,[1][2] was born 27 January 1881 in St. Bernard, Hamilton, Ohio.[2][3][4] He grew up there in the home on Carthage Pike owned by his parents, which in 1900 sheltered his parents John (age 59, b. Germany) and Mary Boehm (58, mother of 10, nine living), Frank (17, soap factory worker), and his siblings Katherine (22), Anna (21), Elizabeth (19), Rosa (11), Philomena (10), Marie (8) and William (3).[3] Mary's parents and John were born in Germany, all other members of the household were born in Ohio.[3] Frank's father immigrated in 1869; thus, he had been in the United States for 31 years and had been naturalized.[3]

The family remained in the same home, where the household in 1910 consisted of John (age 69, laborer for the street department), Mary (58, midwife, mother of 12, 11 living), Frank C. (27, building carpenter, working on his own account), Elizabeth (29), Rosie C. (23), Philomena (20) and William A. Boehm (13).[5] (His mother seems to have forgotten to include the two born between 1900 and 1910.)

On 1 October 1913 at St. Clement Catholic Church in St. Bernard, Hamilton County, he married Alvina Margaret "Alma" Brausch,[1] daughter of Ferdinand Peter Brausch and Hortensia Glenkler.[1]

Frank (age 36, house carpenter) and Alma (29) rented a home on Church Street in St. Bernard in 1920, which they shared with their two daughters.[6]

When he registered for the draft in 1942, the 59-year-old was residing on Tower Avenue in St. Bernard with Alma and working independently.[4] He was described as 5'8" tall, 154 lbs., with blue eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.[4]

Frank died at age 70 from stomach cancer on 18 November 1953 in Cincinnati[2] and was buried in St. Bernard at Saint Mary Cemetery.[7]
